Company background for Release Coordinator
Our client is a world leading online news platform, with a global audience running into the hundreds of millions. Their in-house Tech & Product team sits at the heart of everything - and they're looking for a Release Coordinator / Junior Release Manager to grow with them.
This is a genuine entry point into a high-calibre software delivery team. You don't need to know everything on day one - you need to be organised, curious, and serious about building a career in release management or software delivery. The environment and the people around you will do the rest.
The role for Release Coordinator
* Reporting to the Release & QA Manager, you'll support the end-to-end coordination of software releases across web, native apps and backend systems - working closely with Project Managers, Developers, QA, Product Owners and Editorial stakeholders to ensure every release lands smoothly, safely and with full visibility.
* Assist in building and maintaining release schedules, deployment calendars and change logs across multiple platforms and teams.
* Coordinate release activities across environments - canary, staging and production - keeping all the right people informed throughout.
* Draft and distribute clear release communications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, covering new features, fixes and changes.
* Support release readiness checks - testing status, approvals, documentation - and help track defects, rollbacks and risks.
* Maintain release trackers, dashboards and reports, and gradually take ownership of smaller releases as your confidence and experience grow.
What you'll bring
* Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail - you're the kind of person who notices when something's missing before anyone else does.
* Clear written and verbal communication - comfortable translating technical information for non-technical audiences.
* A calm, methodical approach under pressure - release windows are time-sensitive and you don't rattle easily.
* A basic understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) - Agile or Scrum exposure is a bonus, as is familiarity with tools like Jira, GitHub, TeamCity or Confluence.
* Proactive, accountable and genuinely eager to learn - you take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do next.
Why this one's worth considering
* A platform used by hundreds of millions of people globally your work has real, immediate impact at scale.
* A fast-moving, commercially and technologically ambitious team growing into global markets.
* Excellent benefits including a free onsite gym, heavily subsidised canteen, employee discounts, season ticket loan and contributory pension.
* 25 days annual leave rising by one day per year up to 30.
