Job Description:
Job Title: Residential Support Worker
Location: Birkenhead
Salary: £26,728 – £28,100 per year (typically £31,000–£33,000 with one sleep-in shift per week)
Sleep-in Bonus: £96 per sleep
Hours: 40/week – 3x14-hour shifts with sleep-ins + night rotation (4x10-hour nights for 2 weeks in an 8-week rota)
About the Role:
A leading Children’s Residential Home is seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to provide care and support for young people (16–25) with mental health needs, trauma, ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. The home is working towards dual registration with CQC and Ofsted.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver care and support to young people with complex needs, following individual care plans.
* Implement therapeutic strategies and promote emotional wellbeing, social development, and daily living skills.
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and participate in team meetings, supervision, and training.
* Act as a key worker when required, supporting young people with education, health, and social care planning.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare and rights of children and young adults.
* Support the smooth running of the home, including household tasks, financial management for residents, and community engagement.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, and other agencies to meet the needs of young people.
Essential Experience & Skills:
* Experience working with children or young adults with mental health needs, trauma, ADHD, autism, or learning disabilities.
* Previous experience in a senior or team leader role is preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Flexible availability to work nights and weekends.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Qualifications:
* Good literacy and numeracy skills (equivalent to GCSE English/Maths A–C).
* Relevant training in care or therapy approaches is desirable (e.g., intensive interaction, sign language).
* NVQ Level 3 in Working with Young People or equivalent is a plus.
