Assistant Director - Data, Analytics and AI

A bit about the role...

As an Assistant Director of Data, Analytics and AI, you will be working closely alongside the director to support the agencies ambitious data vision, maturing the agency's ability to work effectively with data, analytics and AI services.

This is a rare chance to shape the future of data, analytics and AI in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose at a point where the opportunities to do more with data and AI have never been greater.

Reporting to the director of Data and Analytics, your will be responsible for line managing two-three data professions within the growing Data and Analytics Directorate which includes roles across a number of data professions (architecture, engineering, analysts, data science, governance, culture and AI). You will be leading key data delivery projects working across professions, supporting the Director to establish the strategic direction for the agency's data ambitions and champion the role of best practice, governance and the capabilities it will provide.

Critical areas of work will include: establishing data standards and framework; driving forward priority data projects; ensuring we build and refine the core data infrastructure; making sure data is accessible and understood; and identifying and exploiting data and AI to deliver efficiencies and new ways of working.

With a combination of strong technical and communication skills, you will develop working relationships across the agency, working closely with both business areas and technical/change teams, ensuring that data is embedded and exploited to support the agency agenda. You will develop connections across other government departments and suppliers to share best-practice and identify opportunities for joint-working, which could support the delivery of shared goals, better outcome for citizens, reduce duplication and maximise the impact of our data initiatives

A bit about you…

You'll be comfortable supporting the director of Data and Analytics dealing with complex data and business challenges, aiming to mature the agency's ability to work effectively with data through technical improvements and by fostering the right culture around data. You will bring strong expertise in data, infrastructure, analytics and AI. Alongside this, you will be able to bridge the gap between business teams, ensuring data supports their goals, and delivery teams, guiding the successful execution of data projects.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level. Your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a directorate. You will enjoy working in an innovative, motivational and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As an experienced data and AI professional, you will provide clear leadership, inspiring and developing colleagues while fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture where data can thrive. You will influence across the organisation and beyond, working with partners and suppliers to deliver shared outcomes. As a visible champion for innovation, you will set the vision for how data, analytics and AI can be leveraged to transform the way we work and create value, ensuring your teams are empowered to deliver at pace and to high standards

Homes England are a geographically diverse community. We work to a 50/50 office/ home based model. Moving back into our office environments has enabled us to utilise our space and time together in the most collaborative way.

The interview process will take place in two stages. The first stage will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. Candidates who are successful at this stage will then be invited to a second stage interview, which will take place in person at one of our listed office locations.
