Job Overview
Role: Maintenance Supervisor. Hours: 10pm to 6.30am, Sunday to Thursday. Location: Hartlebury, DY10 4JB. Type: Temp to Perm (after 3 months becomes perm). Rate: £20 p/h + £1.50 p/h Shift Allowance (£47,515 salary once the role becomes perm).
Based at Forest Garden, Hartlebury Trading Estate, the Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Engineering Manager and oversees the work of the Maintenance Team on the night shift (10pm to 6.30am, Sunday to Thursday). The role requires leading a small team of maintenance technicians, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards while minimising downtime and improving reliability to support the business’s overall production goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership – Provide line management of the shift team in respect of welfare and adherence to company process and procedure; manage and approve holiday requests, support minimum staffing levels, and, where required, manage return‑to‑work and disciplinary processes.
* Training and Development – Provide appropriate on‑the‑job training and support, ensuring staff have the necessary tools and skills; identify deficiencies in skills and competency and work with the Maintenance Manager to implement training or development plans.
* Collaboration – Work closely with shift supervisors, production management, and other departments to ensure smooth handover of tasks and alignment of priorities; coordinate with other shift leads for timely and accurate handover of ongoing issues to minimise downtime.
* Breakdowns (Unplanned Maintenance) – Address and resolve urgent mechanical, electrical, or facility issues during the shift to minimise disruption to production; ensure continuity of presence on open tasks at shift changeover and document handover to appropriate authority.
* Preventative Maintenance – Oversee execution of all planned PPM tasks safely and according to business process; ensure no PPM tasks are overdue in the CMMS.
* Performance Metrics – Support measurement of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across the production operations of the Hartlebury site, particularly the availability (uptime) element attributed to maintenance.
* Documentation – Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities; ensure team members complete planned and unplanned logs in the CMMS (MaintX) and in‑touch systems in line with department requirements.
* Inventory Management – Accurately record use of parts and consumables and follow required department processes for replacement and replenishment.
* Safety and Compliance – Follow all company health and safety guidance, processes, and procedures; ensure work permits are completed, signed off, and either closed or handed over appropriately (e.g., at shift end); support development and revision of safety documentation such as risk assessments and H&S procedures; report any health and safety shortcomings and help maintain H&S documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
* Education – Technical certification or degree‑level qualification in industrial maintenance or a related field is desirable but not required.
* Experience – At least 5 years of maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
* Technical Knowledge – Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills, able to work on a range of equipment and systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical circuits, industrial machinery).
* Leadership Skills – Experience managing or leading a team with a focus on productivity and teamwork.
* Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to provide clear instructions and report issues effectively.
* Problem‑Solving – Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, particularly in high‑pressure situations.
* Flexibility – Ability to work night shifts and be available for emergency repairs during off‑hours.
