Senior Web Developer - WordPress Upto £53k DOE + Benefits Hybrid
The successful candidate will receive a salary of up to £53k DOE, comprehensive benefits package including USS pension, 34 days holiday plus bank holidays and a superb working environment, including hybrid working practices. Job Purpose:
To bring extensive website development knowledge and experience to the business and lead the development and management of WEG’s portfolio of websites.
This role will set and maintain coding, quality and security standards and ensure the effective and timely development of various websites using the Agile methodology. It will also have significant input on new technology selection where opportunities to do so arise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* To work with Business Analysts, Project Managers and the business to develop complex websites and recommend best-fit approaches and technologies
* Recommend and deliver best-practice standards for development such as code quality, unit testing, security, continual improvement, etc.
* Ensure the security and high-availability of WEG’s portfolio of websites
* Integration with other systems via API, as appropriate
Person Specification:
* Significant, bespoke, WordPress development experience, e.g. >5 years
* Strong website security experience
* Experience of SQL and RDBMS
* Knowledge and experience of the different levels of testing employed in web applications and how best to employ them to ensure quality and timely delivery of releases
* Experience with GitHub/Version Control
* A strong desire to deliver and a methodical approach to planning and management of development activities
* Experience of JQuery and Ajax highly desirable
* Experience of working in an Agile development environment (sprints, retros, planning, etc.) is desirable
* Knowledge of CI/CD is desirable
* Knowledge of AWS is desirable
