Job title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Sheffield – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £50,818+ depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

* Lead manufacturing engineering input during bid and proposal work, providing early-stage manufacturing engineering resource planning and manufacturing process definition
* Upon contract award, transition into the programme Manufacturing Engineering lead, responsible for industrialisation and delivery execution
* Collaborate with Campaigns, Operations and Engineering teams to ensure alignment between product concept, customer requirements and production capability
* Lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and manufacturing readiness reviews
* Own the detailed industrialisation plan, including manufacturing process definition, tooling, routings, manufacturing instructions and the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBoM)
* Support Manufacturing Engineers with mentorship and coaching

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

* Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing engineering or industrialisation role
* Strong understanding of manufacturing process planning, routings, and build sequencing
* Knowledge of production methods including fabrication, assembly, or machining
* Exposure to bid support, cost estimation, or proposal development

Desirable:

* Understanding of digital manufacturing tools, SAP, and Teamcenter
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or similar discipline

The Manufacturing Engineering team:

As part of BAE Systems Platforms and Services sector, Weapon Systems (UK) designs, develops, manufactures, and supports artillery systems, naval guns, and provides engineering capability to the wider BAE Systems business. Our global reach brings our customers a depth and breadth of expertise that meet critical needs in the air, on land, and at sea. Our mission strives for us to be our customer’s trusted and affordable weapons provider, delivering enhanced effects on target and complete mission solutions. We are looking for innovation, commitment and drive to help define the future of Weapon Systems capabilities.

In this role, you will specifically support new programme bids and proposal work for Weapon Systems. Upon contract award you will transition into the programmes Manufacturing Engineering lead. There will also be opportunity to travel across the North of England, supporting various sites.
