Make a Real Difference with Real Life Options

At Real Life Options, we support people to live the life they choose, and we’re looking for passionate, reliable Support Workers to join our team in Glenrothes. You’ll play a vital role in supporting 34 individuals in our outreach service—helping them live independently and with dignity in their own homes and communities.

This role involves 1:1 lone working, with occasional 2:1 support, and includes working a variety of shifts as part of a 24-hour rota.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your day will usually start by catching up on any updates or handovers, so you know what’s been happening and what each person’s plans are. Some of the services can be challenging, so it’s important to follow the right guidelines to make sure the people we support feel safe and can live their lives fully.

If you're working a morning shift, you’ll be helping people get ready for the day—this might include supporting with showering, getting dressed, having breakfast, and taking medication.

Throughout the day, you’ll be encouraging independence by supporting people to take part in household tasks like cooking, cleaning, and laundry. We believe in working alongside people, not doing everything for them. We also support individuals to manage their own money and build confidence in their daily routines. It’s a great chance to help someone learn new skills and celebrate their progress.

You’ll also support people to stay connected—whether that’s visiting family and friends, attending appointments, or joining in with community activities and groups. Most people travel by public transport with their support worker.

Evenings might involve helping to make dinner, supporting with food safety and hygiene, and winding down with whatever the person enjoys—this could be going to a disco, watching football, heading to the pub, or just relaxing at home.

At the end of your shift, you’ll write up a short log of the day, so there’s a clear handover for the next person and the right support continues.
