Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the surgery care group in delivering the Work and Health Proof of Concept Project, part of NHS England’s Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme.

This 6-month fixed term secondment will involve the rapid deployment and evaluation of an innovative intervention to support people recently signed off work due to musculoskeletal ill health.

The postholder(s) will provide specialist musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy within a rapid-access, risk-stratified pathway supporting individuals recently signed off work due to MSK conditions. The role will focus on enabling early and sustained return-to-work (RTW), integrating health coaching and functional rehabilitation and working as part of an MDT with social prescribers. If you are currently employed by the Trust and you wish to apply for this role on a secondment basis, please seek permission from your current line manager before applying for the post.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 7 Physiotherapist, you will work autonomously with an opportunity to develop yourself across all 4 pillars of practice (clinical, leadership, education, and research/audit). The successful candidate will act as a clinical leader within the project, deliver high-quality MSK care, support colleagues, contribute to national evaluation, and help develop best practice case studies for future service delivery.

In line with our Trust values, they will approach encounters with service users with kindness, openness and excellence, and seek to understand the priorities, values and preferences of service users.

The postholder will work across community settings in York, Selby, South Hambleton and Ryedale, integrating with Social Prescribers, Primary Care, and local initiatives such as Active North Yorkshire’s MSK Hub.
