About the role
Reporting to the Shift Manager, the Team Leader ensures employees perform within their roles at every shift, possessing a deep understanding of production processes, procedures, and equipment. The role co‑ordinates People, Product, Plant, Planning and Performance across Production, Warehouse and Health & Safety activities, mentors and develops the production teams, and drives Health & Safety, Food Safety, Product Quality, Process compliance, Continuous Improvement, Cost Control and Cost Reduction for the end‑to‑end site operation.
Responsibilities
* Support the Shift Manager in managing People, Product, Plant, Planning and Performance across the site.
* Mentor, support and develop the production teams.
* Drive Health & Safety, Food Safety & Product Quality, Process compliance, Continuous Improvement, Cost Control & Cost Reduction.
* Teach system related tasks to colleagues and troubleshoot minor equipment faults.
* Manage H&S compliance, cleaning schedules, “clean as you go” policy and audit readiness.
* Deputise for the Shift Manager when required.
* Supervise production work ensuring completion, quality and hygiene.
* Support induction, training and performance reviews for new employees.
* Optimise staffing levels and improve departmental KPIs.
* Plan equipment availability for Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPMs).
* Liaise with engineering and planning to maximise equipment efficiency.
* Use ERP system for stock control and management.
* Ensure compliant with non‑conformance and audit based quality systems.
* Perform any reasonable duties requested by the Shift Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Work safely at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies.
* Promote risk assessment management; implement PTO, JSA, HIRA, PTW, toolbox talks.
* Carry out and monitor cleaning schedules, maintaining high hygiene standards.
* Deputise for Shift Manager when required.
* Supervise production operations and quality/hygiene standards.
* Support induction, training, and performance reviews.
* Optimise staffing to maximise efficiencies.
* Plan for equipment preventive maintenance.
* Collaborate with engineering for equipment efficiency.
* Achieve departmental KPIs.
* ERP system proficiency in stock control.
* Understanding of non-conformance and audit based quality systems.
