The Product Writer plays a critical role in creating and managing naming, terminology and language for our colleague and client experiences across WPP Open, our digital platform.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable shaping language for software and working on emerging technologies and experiences. You will be passionate about user-centred language, and keen to collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges. Reporting to a Product Design Lead, the product writer will contribute language informed by insight to user journeys, directly impacting the usability and success of our platform WPP Open.
What you'll be doing
* Take full ownership of your language on the workstream from discovery through to delivery, with a strong product mindset.
* Collaborate with design to translate product requirements and user needs into user flows for various products and services in our platform.
* Conduct user research and usability testing, leveraging insights to inform language decisions and word choices.
* Establish and maintain a WPP lexicon of names and terms.
* Ensure consistency with language principles and the broader experience vision defined by our Product Design Leads.
* Collaborate with Product Managers and Marketeers to develop language and naming to represent WPP Open to the world.
* Review and approve language across experiences.
* Advocate for user‑centred design principles, accessibility, and usability standards across the platform, ensuring our experience is inclusive and easy to understand.
* Actively participate in Agile team ceremonies, contributing to sprints and continuous improvement.
* Write release notes and articles for the software.
What you'll need
* 5 to 8 years of experience as a writer with experience working on digital products or software.
* A portfolio showcasing your expertise in language and language research, as your ability to create impactful and user-centred writing.
* Abillity to contribute language to leading design tools such as Figma, and collaboration tools such as Miro.
* Deep understanding of human-centred design principles, language best practices, and usability.
* Experience working with and contributing to language systems.
* Knowledge of usability and accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
* Strong communication, collaboration and presentation skills, with proven ability to articulate language decisions and concepts clearly.
* Experience generating naming and managing language architecture.
Bonus Skills
* Understanding of product design processes.
* Experience writing for SaaS products.
* Interest and experience of AI-powered software.
