Job Overview
We are seeking a Trust Grade Registrar (ST3+) to join our expanding Acute Medicine service at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role is based in our Acute Medical Units and includes full on‑calls on the medical SpR rota. It offers experience across a wide range of acute conditions and specialty reach.
Responsibilities
- Manage medical admissions and run the acute unselected take
- Work closely with Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine and other specialities
- Participate in MDT working and complex discharge planning
- Attend full on‑calls on the medical SpR rota
- Provide clinical governance and service development activities
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Full General Medical Council registration
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- ALS or equivalent
- Proven procedural competence in line with IMT3 curriculum
- Experience managing medical admissions independently
- Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in Same Day Emergency Care
- Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development
- Familiar with clinical governance
- A willingness to accept responsibility and provide leadership
Desirable:
- Higher degree
- Teaching qualification
- Management/Leadership qualification
- Point of care ultrasound skills
- Peer‑reviewed publications
- Independent proficiency in lumbar puncture, Seldinger chest and ascitic drains
- Experience of clinical governance (quality improvement, audit, M&M review)
- Experience of service development
- Awareness of current relevant developments within the broader NHS
