Overview
Stanley Purser Ward, based at Swanage Community Hospital, is looking for either an experienced Health Care Assistant or someone new to care to join their team. The post is a rotational Band 3 role on a permanent, part-time basis. Working patterns include long days (07:30 – 20:30) and night shifts (20:00 – 08:00). Weekend and public holidays attract enhanced pay.
There are opportunities for development and progression, including a structured induction programme and the chance to explore the Trainee Nursing Apprenticeship and the Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship.
Applications from candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply for this position.
Responsibilities
* Assist registered nursing staff in providing high-quality, individualized nursing care to a defined group of patients, relatives, and carers.
* Support the multidisciplinary team to help patients regain independence and mobility in preparation for safe discharge.
* Participate in providing a range of therapeutic activities for patients.
* Contribute to creating an environment that supports learning and professional development for staff.
Qualifications
* Essential: Good communication skills.
* Essential: Able to use a computer to a basic standard for inputting information and accessing emails and the internet.
* Essential: Ability to develop relationships with patients and carers.
* Desirable: Existing NVQ level 2/3 in health care.
* Essential: Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to engage in service development.
* Essential: Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively.
Additional Requirements
* Rolling duty to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; the Trust covers the DBS cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
* Enhanced DBS required as part of the role.
