Role Overview: Accountable for executing research initiatives that inform and underpin strategic and operational decision-making processes.
Apply quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to define, create, oversee, examine, and document various research subjects to guide and implement change.
Exhibit enthusiasm for converting raw data into useful information, transforming information into insights, and translating insights into concrete actions to centrally influence business procedures, offerings, and approaches.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Spearhead the coordination and execution of diverse research initiatives, implementation of client consultations, and impromptu research assignments.
2. Formulate approaches for research and information gathering, encompassing questionnaires, discussion groups, and in-depth conversations to produce evidence-based findings.
3. Define, oversee, and perform qualitative and quantitative research projects, including creation, coordination, assessment, and documentation.
4. Define, oversee, and conduct background research on critical issues (such as homelessness, climate change) to proactively guide strategic planning and decision-making.
5. Perform evaluation of data from research and information collection to deliver premium research documents and briefing papers customized for specified audiences (internal and external).
6. Execute quality control activities for research projects (e.g., supervising deliverables from external research vendors).
7. Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure research shapes future decision-making.
8. Coordinate several research projects simultaneously.
9. Collaborate with the Communication Team to ensure research findings are actively disseminated.
10. Actively consider the organization's research requirements and advocate for the worth and advantages of research across the company.
11. Support the Insight Team's efforts by handling occasional insight or data inquiries.
12. Any additional tasks appropriate to the position.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
* Substantial practical experience in conducting primary and secondary research in a commercial research or corporate environment (not academic research).
* Verifiable experience in conducting qualitative research projects, creating interview frameworks, leading interviews and discussion groups, evaluating qualitative information, and generating actionable reports and suggestions.
* Verifiable experience in implementing quantitative research methodologies, survey development, applying statistical methods to analyze data, and generating actionable reports and suggestions.
* Background in designing, managing, and delivering multiple research projects concurrently.
* Verifiable experience in conducting secondary research, extracting insights from complex or ambiguous information, and employing a narrative approach when appropriate.
* Degree in a research-related field or relevant professional certification e.g., Market Research Society is beneficial. Strong numerical abilities and the capacity to examine information and solve problems with a systematic and impartial approach.
* Experience in maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Exceptional research, analytical, communication, and report writing abilities and capacity to collect, analyze, summarize, and report on insights accurately.
* Outstanding organizational abilities and capacity to prioritize personal workload effectively, while working independently, to meet strict deadlines and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
* Ability to present complex information and data in a simplified manner to clearly convey and share knowledge with various audiences, including external stakeholders, which will subsequently facilitate acceptance and drive positive change within the organization.
* An adaptable team contributor who is proactive and self-motivated, with a natural ability to function in a rapidly evolving environment and handle multiple tasks.
* Demonstrated ability to compose research reports on complex topics and tailor these to different audiences.
* Valid driving license and access to personal transportation or ability to travel efficiently and promptly to attend meetings at other locations that may not be easily reached by public transport.
