Offer description

Location: Bristol (with flexible hybrid working) Start Date: Immediate start Are you curious about how buildings interact with the world around them? Do you want to use your technical skills to help design buildings that are more comfortable, energy-efficient, and sustainable? Join a consultancy that's making a real difference in the built environment. You'll be part of a friendly, supportive team that's passionate about using science and data to improve how buildings perform—for the benefit of people and the planet. What Is Building Physics? Building Physics is the science behind how buildings behave in the real world. It explores how heat, light, air, and moisture move through buildings, and how these factors affect comfort, energy use, and sustainability. It’s a multidisciplinary field that combines engineering, environmental science, and architecture to answer questions like: Will this building stay cool in summer and warm in winter? Is there enough natural daylight in this space? How much energy will this building use—and how can we reduce it? If you’ve studied modules in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, environmental design, or energy modelling, you’ve already been introduced to Building Physics. What You'll Be Doing: In this role, you’ll use advanced software tools like IES VE and CAD to simulate and analyse building performance. You’ll work on a wide range of projects across different sectors, helping clients make better design decisions based on real data. Your work will involve: Thermal modelling and energy analysis Daylight and solar gain assessments Ventilation and indoor air quality studies Supporting sustainable design strategies If you’ve used Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools like Revit or SketchUp, that’s a big plus. BIM helps us: Work with detailed 3D models of buildings Integrate performance analysis directly into the design process Collaborate more effectively with architects and engineers Even if your BIM experience comes from university projects or placements, it shows you’re comfortable with digital workflows and model-based thinking—skills that are increasingly valuable in Building Physics consultancy. This role is ideal for recent graduates in: Mechanical or Environmental Engineering Building Services Engineering Sustainability or Environmental Science Architectural Engineering or a related discipline We’re looking for: Some experience using IES VE (from a placement, internship, or university project) A good understanding of how buildings work Strong analytical and problem-solving skills A passion for sustainability and making a difference What You'll Get Flexible hybrid working A clear personal development plan with regular reviews Supportive senior management who value your ideas 23 days annual leave bank holidays, with options to increase Cycle scheme to encourage sustainable travel A sociable, collaborative team environment Salary progression as your skills grow
