To provide occupational therapy assessment, treatment and review of service users who experience serious mental Illness (SMI) in a forensic low secure service. The post holder will work at Prospect Place and be responsible for an allocated caseload (under supervision). You will be expected to use your own initiative and clinical reasoning to plan and carry out treatment, run treatment groups and to contribute to the MDT management and treatment of our service users.

Clinical:
* To carry out appropriate assessment and treatment of allocated patients.
* To plan, conduct and participate in various treatment sessions in response to assessment and need.
* To provide clinical and other support to multidisciplinary team.
* To carry out 1:1 and group sessions.
* To work in close liaison with other disciplines involved in the care and treatment of patients allocated to you.
* To provide in-service training.
* To develop and maintain community links to increase social inclusion and community integration.
* To maintain strict confidentiality regarding any information concerning patients.
* To establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, their relations and friends and to support and promote patients' rights and identity.
* To be responsible for the day to day management of petty cash and its use to promote rehabilitation.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with HCPC
* Evidence of post qualification experience and continuing professional development to post graduate diploma level.
* Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role resulting from legislative or service changes, as appropriate
Experience
* Substantial post registration experience working in a mental health service.
* Experience in working with people with severe and complex mental health needs
* Experience of MDT working
* Experience of managing or participating in change
* Experience of leading a team
* Experience of working in a community setting
* Experience of supervision
* Experience of managing a caseload
* Experience of working with older people
Knowledge
* Extensive knowledge / experience in social inclusion and recovery model of care.
* Sound understanding of current local and national policies in relation to Mental Health including the Mental Health Act, Risk Assessment and Management processes and CPA processes
* Good working knowledge of assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation processes.
* Comprehensive knowledge of mental health conditions and how they impact on an individual's wellbeing and occupational functioning.
* Comprehensive knowledge of broad range of interventions required to support individuals with severe and complex mental health needs.
* Knowledge of MOHO and its' assessment tools
* Ability to carry our cognitive assessments
* Knowledge of the occupational context of Rehabilitation Services and its application to assessment and treatment
Skills and Abilities
