Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to lead, grow, and continually enhance the Education Behind Bars programme across all attractions. By developing strategic partnerships within the education sector and new educational products, ensuring high operational delivery standards, and championing Education Behind Bars as a nationally recognised and endorsed programme. The Education Behind Bars Lead ensures that the programme remains impactful, commercially valuable, and aligned to our mission to inspire, educate, and create lasting positive outcomes for young people and learners.

The Role
As the Education Behind Bars Lead, you will oversee the strategic development, operational delivery, and quality assurance of our educational programme across the attraction division. You will drive programme growth, including implementing the programme at attractions not yet offering it, progressing licencing opportunities, and ensure all educational content is consistent, engaging, accurate, and delivered to a high standard.
You will own the training frameworks, delivery guidelines, and developmental resources that underpin the programme. You will lead working groups with frontline teams, identifying improvements and evolving the programme through insight, innovation, and best practice.
You will work closely with our PR partners to elevate Education Behind Bars as a nationally recognised educational experience, securing relevant publicity, developing case studies, and engaging with professional networks to expand reach.
This role covers multiple sites across the UK and therefore requires regular travel. Flexibility is essential, including occasional evenings, weekends, and other reasonable duties in line with programme delivery.

Strategy & Delivery
Lead the strategic growth and evolution of the Education Behind Bars programme across all attractions.
Develop and implement the programme at attractions not currently offering it, ensuring consistency and alignment to organisational goals.
Design new educational products and modules, ensuring they are impactful, safe, engaging, and scalable.
Use insight, feedback, and educational trends to identify new opportunities and enhance existing programme content.
Build a sustainable long-term strategy for the programme that supports revenue growth, educational credibility, and national recognition.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, and educational organisations to expand the programme's reach, credibility, and endorsement.
Act as a national champion for Education Behind Bars, promoting the programme across professional networks, conferences, and sector events to strengthen its reputation as a high quality, recognised educational experience.
Experience & Engagement
Ensure the programme delivers high quality, meaningful learning outcomes for all participants.
Develop resources, training manuals, "how-to" guides, session plans, and delivery frameworks used across all attractions.
Conduct regular attraction visits to observe sessions, coach staff, and sign off delivery competence.
Lead annual programme reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with curriculum links and learning standards.
Build strong relationships with schools, colleges, teachers, and educational partners to improve engagement and repeat bookings.
Engage with education sector stakeholders to foster recognition and endorsement of Education Behind Bars as a nationally recognised programme, ensuring consistent alignment with curriculum standards and sector expectations.
Operational Management & Compliance
Oversee all operational aspects of educational delivery, ensuring sessions are safe, consistent, and delivered to the required standard.
Facilitate and lead regular working group calls with frontline delivery teams to share best practice, identify challenges, and implement improvements.
Develop and maintain delivery standards, assessment tools, and sign-off processes for all educational staff.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection legislation.
Support the attractions with troubleshooting and improving areas of operational concern.
Financial & Commercial Performance
Support the creation of pricing structures, packages, and commercial opportunities related to the programme.
Work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to drive lead generation, conversions, and increased participation.
Analyse booking data, satisfaction scores, performance metrics, and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Produce reports summarising attendance, revenue, feedback trends, and programme performance.
Collaboration & Communication
Foster strong working relationships across attractions, central support teams, and leadership.
Provide clear communication on programme developments, expectations, and updates.
Work collaboratively with Attraction Managers and Team Leaders to maintain operational excellence.
Work closely with external PR agencies to raise the profile and awareness of the programme.
Represent the programme professionally at internal and external meetings, networks, and events.
Leverage professional networks, associations, and educational bodies to raise profile.
Explore opportunities for involvement in sector podcasts, webinars, forums, and events.
Ensure communications across Sales and Marketing align with programme objectives and support commercial growth.

Key Performance Indicators
Performance in this role will be measured through a combination of quantitative and qualitative indicators aligned to the Cove Group's PDR framework.

Programme participation numbers & growth
Revenue & profitability
Quality of delivery and operational consistency
Number of new products/modules successfully launched
Number and quality of strategic partnerships established within the education sector
National recognition and endorsement of Education Behind Bars in the education community
Documented positive impact on learners, e.g., feedback, skills developed, or repeat participation

About You
The Education Behind Bars Lead role is ideal for an experienced, passionate, and organised programme leader with a strong background in education, outreach, learning, or visitor engagement. You will combine strategic thinking with practical delivery expertise, and you will thrive in a multi-site role requiring collaboration, innovation, and operational leadership.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in developing or delivering educational programmes, outreach initiatives, or learning experiences (schools, heritage, visitor attractions, cultural, youth, or community sectors).
Strong understanding of learning outcomes, curriculum-linked content, and audience needs.
Experience designing training materials, delivery frameworks, or educational resources.
Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams across sites.
Strong communication and relationship management skills, confident working with teachers, schools, partners, and internal teams.
Ability to gather, analyse, and use feedback, insight, and data to drive improvement.
Experience ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health and safety legislation.
Competence in report writing, planning documents, and programme evaluation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with initiative and accountability.
Willingness to travel between sites and work flexibly when required.
Desirable
Experience in an education, learning, outreach, or interpretation role (minimum 2 years).
Experience operating within a visitor attraction, heritage site, cultural venue, or youth-focused organisation.
Knowledge of educational policy, Ofsted frameworks, and personal development priorities.
Experience working with PR, media engagement, or communications.
Understanding of commercial education products or sales pipelines.
