We’re looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Specialist Pharmacist to join our friendly and supportive Pharmacy team, providing high-quality clinical input across our community mental health services in Brighton and Hove.
This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist who’s passionate about improving outcomes for people living with mental health conditions. You’ll be working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment — supporting patients in our treatment clinics and through home visits — ensuring they get the best from their medicines and experience safe, person-centred care.
As a Specialist Pharmacist (Mental Health), you’ll deliver expert medicines optimisation and clinical advice across community mental health teams, working closely with nurses, doctors, and allied professionals to support evidence-based prescribing. You’ll help design and improve medicines pathways, provide patient-facing consultations, and contribute to training and education across the service. The role also plays a vital part in linking with primary care partners to support seamless transitions and ensure safe use of medicines at every stage of care.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated pharmacist who combines sound clinical knowledge with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
You’ll bring:
* A degree in Pharmacy and registration with the GPhC.
* A Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent experience).
* Strong clinical reasoning, medicines information, and patient-facing skills.
* A genuine interest in mental health and the desire to develop further in this specialty.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacists (CMHP) is desirable, but not essential — we’ll support you to develop your expertise through training such as Psych 1 and Psych 2 programmes.
What we offer
At Sussex Partnership, you’ll find a culture that values people, learning and innovation. You’ll be encouraged to develop your clinical expertise and take an active role in shaping how we deliver pharmacy services in community mental health.
We offer:
* Full funding for further specialist training and CPD.
* Access to experienced senior pharmacy mentors and supervision.
* Flexible working patterns, including part-time and compressed hours.
* Generous annual leave (27 days + bank holidays) and NHS pension.
* Access to staff wellbeing initiatives, psychological support, and discounts.
* A role within a Trust rated Outstanding for Caring and Good overall by the CQC.
Why Sussex?
Brighton and Hove is a vibrant coastal city surrounded by the South Downs — offering a fantastic quality of life and easy access to London and Gatwick. Our pharmacy team is proud to be part of a service that’s continuously evolving and investing in its people.
If you’re ready to apply your clinical skills in a rewarding mental health setting — where you’ll be supported to grow, innovate and make a real difference — we’d love to hear from you.
Why Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
We are an inclusive employer that values people, learning and wellbeing. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
