South Staffs Water is seeking a visionary Water Demand Lead to spearhead our commitment to reducing water consumption across both household and non-household sectors. Building on the success of our award-winning campaigns, this role will drive the delivery of our five-year strategy aligned with our Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs), ensuring sustainable and resilient demand forecasting and reduction.
The Role:
Leading the business in their commitment to reduce demand across both our household and non-household customers. Taking the learnings from and building on our experience of our award-winning campaigns to reduce household consumption whilst focusing across both household and non-household. This role is responsible for delivering our strategy for the next five years based on our Water Resource Management Plans for both regions. Ensuring we can forecast our demand for both future planning and to meet regulatory targets, and doing so in a sustainable and resilient way.
The role will play a pivotal role in our Universal metering programme, providing analysis into the data gathered to provide intelligence into water usage. Then using this to develop and adapt the strategy both for water efficiency and for metering.
The role will be a water efficiency expert and represent the company at meetings, bringing and learning best practice from across the industry. The role will also work in alignment with our Customer experience strategy to ensure we're supporting our ambitions and commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the strategy for household and non-household consumption reduction to 2030 based on the Water Resource Management Plans and the final determination of our proposed Business Plan.
Develop and deliver benefit measurement and reporting for all activities, both internally and externally to regulators including the Environment Agency and Ofwat.
Ensure programmes are regularly reviewed to ensure we are delivering the required benefits and in the best value way, ensuring our strategy is live and adaptive.
Work closely with our Universal Metering team as they roll out meters to all customer in Cambridge by 2030, and all South Staffs Water customers by 2035, to ensure alignment between programmes and to maximise benefits.
Use MI from the Universal Metering programme to develop meaningful data for customers and the business.
Translate the Universal Metering data to target water efficiency activity and develop the ongoing strategy.
Support our water demand forecasting.
Identify best practice from across industry and innovative solutions, opportunities and collaborations to support programme delivery.
Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the region, especially with Retailers, to enable delivery.
Determine best delivery mechanism for activities and manage any consultant and supplier contracts and relationships required as a result.
Represent the company where necessary at industry forums and workshops.
Ensure Health and Safety is a priority and all necessary training is kept up to date.

What You’ll Need:
Experience & Skills
Experience in water demand reduction activities.
Experience developing and delivery of projects – an end to end approach.
Proven project management skills, including management of budget.
Understanding of water company WRMP and the commitments.
Excellent stakeholder communication and influencing skills.
Ability to manage own workload and motivation to drive initiatives
Due to being across multiple locations, a full UK driving license is required.
5 years+ experience in relevant role.
