A friendly and inclusive primary school in Tewkesbury is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Worker to join their supportive team. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing tailored support to help them engage in learning, develop social skills, and build confidence within the classroom environment.
This position is ideal for individuals with experience in education, care, support work, psychology, youth work, or anyone looking to build a career supporting children with additional needs.
The Role
As an Autism Support Worker, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD
* Help pupils access learning activities and participate fully in school life
* Support the development of communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills
* Implement personalised support strategies in line with pupils' individual needs
* Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to promote positive outcomes
* Create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
* Patient, caring, and empathetic
* Passionate about supporting children with Autism and additional needs
* Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
* Calm, resilient, and adaptable in a school environment
* Experienced in SEN, education, care, support work, youth work, or childcare (desirable but not essential)
