£42,939 - £50,697 Inc HCAS Per annum Pro rata
Part Time 22.5 hours per week
As the named School Nurse within the area, the post-holder will supervise staff nurses and work within the School Nursing Service to support schools, families, and the wider community in improving the health of school‑aged children, especially the vulnerable, and developing referral pathways.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will work as a member of the School Nursing Service and will work with schools, families, and the wider community to improve the health of school‑aged children identifying the more vulnerable, and developing clear referral pathways so that all children and young people can reach their full potential.
They will work closely with the identified senior manager in each school providing expert information, guidance, and assessments as required, and support schools to empower parents and CYP to make decisions about their health and wellbeing.
They will collaborate with health and education professionals and institutions to break down barriers and facilitate the sharing of information, ideas, and expertise. Working with the Team lead they will develop appropriate databases, contribute to reports, and report any concerns that arise.
The school nurse will deliver high‑quality evidence‑based skilled nursing care within the schools of Bexley, responsible for a defined caseload of secondary schools, and supporting junior staff with the management of primary schools.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Specialist Community Public Health Qualification in School Nursing and adhere to the NMC Code, maintaining professional requirements in line with the revalidation procedure.
They should participate actively in continuing education programmes and accept responsibility for professional and self‑development.
