Project Manager Requirements
To be successful as a Project Manager, you will have:
* Proven rail industry experience with track record of successful project delivery
* Demonstrable experience in project management within the rail or transport sector
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience in proposal writing and tender processes
* Strong understanding of NEC contract principles
* Experience in regulated transport and built infrastructure sectors
* Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects
* Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable Requirements
* Degree educated
* Chartered engineer or PM
* Consultancy environment background
* Client-side project experience
* Experience with another regulated transport or built infrastructure project
* Chartered status or clear progression pathway

About the Project Manager Role
The Project Manager will manage rail and transport infrastructure projects from initiation through delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring successful project outcomes, managing client relationships, and supporting the organisation’s commitment to social value in the Manchester area. This role involves hybrid working with occasional travel to project sites and offices, combined with a focus on community engagement and local benefit.
Project Manager Key Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of rail and transport infrastructure projects from initiation through completion. Prepare tender proposals and feasibility documentation. Manage client relationships and stakeholder engagement throughout project lifecycle. Oversee project budgets, timelines, and quality delivery. Prepare and present project reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Manage project teams and coordinate with internal and external partners. Ensure compliance with project procedures, NEC contracts, and regulatory requirements. Support social value initiatives and community engagement activities. Contribute to business development and growth opportunities.
Project Manager Contract Details
* Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
* Location: Manchester (2 days per week office/site minimum, occasional travel to project locations)
