LOCATION: Office Base is London Light House. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £55,000 - £65,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To lead the development and delivery of infrastructure automation and analytics solutions that enhance operational efficiency across BBC platforms. The role focuses on building resilient, scalable systems using modern DevOps practices, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
* Design and implement infrastructure automation workflows using tools like Rundeck, Ansible, and Terraform
* Build and maintain containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes for scalable deployments
* Develop analytics pipelines and reporting dashboards using Python, SQL, and cloud‑native services
* Automate patching, compliance checks, and system health monitoring across hybrid environments
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate operational needs into technical solutions
* Contribute to Agile delivery, code reviews, and continuous integration practices
* Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, recommending improvements to existing platforms
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Proven experience in infrastructure automation using tools like Rundeck, Ansible, or PowerShell
* Strong hands‑on skills in containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Exposure to data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, Prometheus)
* Experience with patching workflows, system compliance, and operational monitoring
* Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging tools to improve platform reliability and efficiency.
DESIRABLE
* Familiarity with BBC tooling such as Splunk, SentinelOne, Confluence, or ServiceNow
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and serverless architecture
* Advanced Python and SQL skills for building analytics pipelines and automated reporting
* Understanding of security best practices and audit frameworks
* Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to open‑source automation projects
