EHC Assessment & Review Officer (SO1)

Location: Leeds

Salary: £280 a day

Contract: Temp

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and skilled EHC Assessment & Review Officer to join our SEND service. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and make a real difference to their outcomes.

You will play a key role in managing statutory processes, working collaboratively with families, schools, and multi-agency partners to ensure high-quality Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans are delivered within statutory timescales.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Casework Officers in managing a caseload of children and young people with SEN
• Coordinate child-centred statutory assessments and annual reviews
• Communicate effectively with families, ensuring they understand the process and feel supported
• Analyse professional reports and contribute to decision-making on complex cases
• Draft clear, high-quality EHC documentation in line with statutory requirements
• Liaise with education, health, and care professionals to monitor provision and progress
• Attend and chair review meetings where required
• Provide advice on placements, provision, funding, and SEND-related processes (including Tribunal matters)
• Ensure all work complies with statutory deadlines and Local Authority responsibilities

About You

We’re seeking someone who is:

• Knowledgeable about SEND legislation, particularly the SEND Code of Practice (2015), Children and Families Act (2014), and SEND Regulations
• Skilled in analysing complex information and presenting it clearly
• Confident in communicating with families and professionals, including handling sensitive situations
• Able to work independently, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
• Experienced in mediation, negotiation, and partnership working
• Committed to improving outcomes for children and young people
• MUST have experience in EHC Assessment review

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., Social Work, Teaching, Youth Work, Education Welfare), or demonstrable experience in a similar role
• Experience working within SEN or a related field
• Enhanced DBS check (without barred list) required
