About the Role As a Children and Family Worker, you will work directly with children, young people, and their families to empower them to make lasting positive changes. You will act as a Key Worker, holding a caseload and delivering integrated, intensive family support—including for families with complex needs or those facing significant challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Building trusting relationships with families to support change.
2. Assessing family needs and developing tailored support plans.
3. Delivering targeted interventions, both individually and in group settings.
4. Working closely with partner agencies (Health, Education, Police, Housing, etc.).
5. Attending and leading multi-agency meetings, contributing to court reports where needed.
6. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
This is a flexible role, and you may be required to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the families you support.
About You We’re looking for someone with:
7. A recognised qualification at NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in childcare or related subject—or relevant experience in the criminal justice or family support field.
8. Knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and family support interventions such as Triple P or Strengthening Families.
9. Experience delivering family support and group work with hard-to-reach families.
10. Excellent communication, assessment, and record-keeping skills.
11. Confidence in working both independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
Why Join Us? At Coventry City Council, we are committed to delivering services that improve lives. As part of our team, you will benefit from:
12. Ongoing training and development opportunities.
13. A supportive team culture.
14. The chance to make a real impact in a diverse and vibrant city.
