Job Purpose
To support SEND (young people with disabilities) on the Shaw Trust supported internships to progress on their work placements and make successful transitions into paid work. To provide training and support for business partners and families, to ensure success during the workplace placements and to seek out job opportunities both within and outside of the host employer.

Shaw Trust provides support to young people across London funded by Local Authorities, Schools, SFA that include providing information, advice, guidance, and support to ensure young people are able to assess their attributes and circumstances, plan to meet learning goals, support them to implement their plans, and keep these under review.

Job Description
* Provides individualised support for interns at the host business worksite placement or competitive job, including job coaching, identifying job placements, assistive technology, etc.
* Attends host business induction to ensure student understanding and learning
* Works with managers and co-workers to educate on disability awareness
* Communicates regularly with parents
* Visits students and provides feedback to team members
* Meets daily with tutor to discuss student progress
* Meets with business liaison, managers, and peer mentors to discuss student strengths, challenges, issues, and progress
* Plans events such as induction, information nights, open days, and graduation with tutors
* Participates in marketing activities for business and community engagement, including newsletters, websites, tours, presentations, and social media
* Communicates effectively with tutors, job coaches, the senior practitioner, employers, co-workers, families, and school and agency personnel regarding student training
* Follows job coaching plans with students and relevant parties
* Collaborates with employers, families, job placement specialists, agency personnel, and schools to resolve training and employment issues
* Trains students in grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, and behavior for employment success
* Provides travel training if necessary
* Works with tutors to make final decisions on student issues affecting success at work placements
* Implements training strategies and services in collaboration with team members and host business staff
* Ensures adherence to workplace standards to promote productivity and efficiency
* Completes job coaching paperwork accurately
* Applies for Access to Work allowances for students
* Provides information on benefits and work-related expenses
* Acts on legal responsibilities concerning student safety and welfare
* Stays informed on current trends, labor market information, education initiatives
* Works as part of a team to ensure student education and welfare
* Assesses and addresses students' learning difficulties and social/emotional needs
* Creates stimulating learning environments both in and out of the workplace
* Utilizes support methods and resources suitable to student needs
* Undertakes relevant training, such as first aid, if appropriate
Person Specification
* NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Careers Education and Guidance, Youth and Community Work, or Social Care (or willing to work towards)
* Level 3 Education and Training Award (or willing to work towards)
* Strong verbal, written, and IT communication skills with diverse groups including managers, professionals, young people, and parents
* Entrepreneurial, dynamic, and innovative in service delivery
* Strong leadership and management skills
* Experience in team leadership and positive culture development
* Ability to develop effective relationships with key organizations
* Organized and capable of managing own workload
* Proven track record of achieving KPIs and outcomes for young people
* Ability to build partnerships with other organizations
