Overview
The Royal Marsden is seeking a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Unit (Private Care). The post holder will work cross-site across Sutton and Chelsea sites and will be supervised by the Matron and Lead Nurse. The Royal Marsden has a mission to champion change and improvement in cancer care through research, innovation, education and leading-edge practice.

Responsibilities
* Provision of specialist high quality, expert nursing care and support for patients undergoing plastic surgery and for their carers.
* Act as a resource for patients and the clinical team by providing comprehensive specialist advice, information, teaching and training within the Royal Marsden and externally.
* Update own knowledge to promote excellence in advanced clinical practice.
* Critically appraise evidence-based literature and use this knowledge to lead in-house educational programs, training staff and students.
Qualifications
Essential
* First level registration; relevant first level degree
* Plastics and/or oncology qualification
* Complex wound management experience
Desirable
* Masters degree
* Teaching qualification
* Experience in research and audit
* Established publication record
* Non-medical prescriber
Experience
Essential: Post-qualification experience
Desirable: Managing a clinical team
Skills and Knowledge
* Relevant clinical expertise and skills as an advanced practitioner in Plastic Surgery care
* Experience working in oncology
* Ability to communicate with others at all levels in the organisation
* Ability to set up and maintain efficient administrative systems
* Computer literate (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Ability to teach specific clinical skills
* Knowledge of current evidence to underpin practice
* Commitment to customer care initiatives and incorporation of cultural values into practice
* Innovative practice; ability to set and monitor standards; tact and boundary management
* Ability to work under pressure
Other Requirements
* Clear understanding of the role of advanced nursing care and associated professional responsibility and accountability
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Aware of current NHS issues
