We're looking for a professional and people-focused Security Officer to join our team at the University of Greenwich – Medway Campus, supporting a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment for students, staff, and visitors.This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you'll combine vigilance with approachability, providing visible security, responsive support, and a positive first impression every day.If you take pride in protecting people and places while delivering excellent service, we'd love to hear from you.What You'll doAct as a key front-of-house security presence for the university library and main buildingsWelcome and manage visitors and contractors, issuing passes and maintaining accurate entry/exit logsPatrol, secure, and monitor premises using physical patrols and CCTV systemsMonitor alarms and CCTV feeds and take appropriate action when requiredRespond quickly and calmly to incidents, emergencies, and fire alarms, supporting evacuations when neededControl and record the issue of keys, access codes, and security equipmentCommunicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, visitors, and contractorsMaintain accurate occurrence logs, incident reports, and shift handoversAttend training and refresher sessions to maintain compliance and capability For a full list of responsibilities please view the attached job descriptionWhat You BringWe're seeking someone who is alert, dependable, and service-driven a security professional who understands that great security is also about great people care.You'll be confident working independently and as part of a wider facilities and workplace experience team.Essential:Valid SIA LicenceFirst Aid at Work CertificateStrong knowledge of security techniques and site protection practicesExperience using CCTV and alarm systemsComfortable using computer-based security systemsExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to write clear, accurate reports and logsUnderstanding of confidentiality and data protectionExperience supporting fire evacuations and safety drillsAbility to work on your own initiative and within a teamDesirable:CCTV LicenceFire Warden certificationFirst Aid qualification (additional)Knowledge of BS7858:2013 screening standards What we offer:Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it's a chance to be part of something greater.
