Lead Practice Nurse role at NHS
Are you an experienced and motivated practice nurse looking for your next challenge? You would join a dedicated and supportive team at one of the highest-rated GP practices in BNSSG, ranked 4th in the 2023 NHS Patient Survey. We are seeking a full-time Lead Practice Nurse (or almost full time) to lead in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within our friendly, forward-thinking practice. This is a varied and rewarding position with the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the nursing team and the services we provide.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate clinical leadership, strong communication, and a compassionate approach, with sound IT skills and experience using clinical systems.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement and manage evidence-based nursing targeted to the needs of the practice population
* Provide clinical leadership, support and motivation to the nursing team
* Ensure maintenance and testing of equipment and advise on new purchases
* Handle Human Resources matters for the nursing team, including appraisal, performance reviews, annual leave, recruitment, induction, disciplinary matters and training needs
* Supervise, mentor and support the professional development of staff within the nursing team
* Participate in clinical supervision
* Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
* Ensure compliance with CQC standards and other regulatory requirements
* Participate in audits and quality improvement projects
* Ensure clinical team members are appropriately registered and revalidated
* Manage staff rotas to meet demand and ensure appropriate staffing levels
* Ensure efficient and effective use of resources and budgetary control
* Chair the monthly Nurses Meeting
* Attend weekly Management Team Meetings and appropriate nursing forums
About Us
We are a 5 Partner high achieving PMS Practice situated in Portishead, North Somerset, overlooking the Severn Estuary. We were rated the 4th best performing practice within BNSSG from the 2023 NHS patient survey. We work from a new purpose-built health centre offering high quality clinical services to a population of 11,500 and we are a training practice. We have high QoF results and were assessed as Good in our latest CQC inspection with a 4.4 star rating on Google Reviews.

Job Responsibilities (Expanded)
* Chronic Disease Management including Diabetes, Respiratory Diseases, Chronic Heart Disease, Hypertension, Stroke
* Identification of Chronic Disease Patients, taking histories, risk assessments, clinical management advice, self-management and health promotion
* Vaccinations and injections (flu vaccination clinics and other clinically appropriate clinics during flu season)
* Administrative and Professional Responsibility including compliance with NMC Code and medicines policies, documentation, patient records, data reporting, and claims
* Research Projects/Audit and participation in Clinical Governance
Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge
* Essential: Knowledge of clinical governance, CQC requirements and clinical audits
Experience
Essential
* Up-to-date training in childhood and adult immunisations
* Phlebotomy, Doppler, Wound Care, ECG, and Travel Health training
Desirable
* Two years’ experience in General Practice
* EMIS Web experience
Qualifications

* RGN Qualification
* Current NMC registration
* Accredited training in Diabetes Management
* Cervical cytology qualification

* Management Qualification
* Nurse Prescriber
* Accredited training in Respiratory, CHD, Minor Illness management and anticoagulation management
