Rolling Stock Engineer – Bogie Systems
MPI has exciting opportunities for Mechanical Rolling Stock Engineers to join our client's expanding Engineering team. The Rolling Stock Engineer – Bogie Systems will provide engineering leadership and support various train systems, focusing on railway bogies and underframe equipment. As part of the Engineering Services Team, you will offer expert support for overhaul activities. This role is site-based at the Bogie Service Centre in Lincoln, UK, and is primarily an office-based engineering support position.
Responsibilities
1. Investigate local and multi-fleet engineering issues.
2. Mitigate engineering risks related to safety and technical issues to prevent risks to the operational railway.
3. Lead investigations into safety-related defects and technical incidents.
4. Develop modification procedures to enhance safety and performance.
5. Support the development of maintenance optimization, component overhaul, and repair regimes using standard engineering tools such as RAMS.
6. Create specifications for engineering activities.
7. Produce risk assessments and business cases to support engineering recommendations.
8. Conduct component condition assessments to improve maintenance regimes.
9. Recommend re-engineering and repair processes as applicable.
10. Provide on-site engineering support to key suppliers for ongoing activities.
Experience Required
Essential:
* Proven experience in rolling stock maintenance, planning, and IT systems.
* Deep knowledge of rolling stock maintenance techniques and procedures.
* Experience in rail vehicle maintenance and repair activities.
* In-depth knowledge of passenger or freight railway bogies.
* Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
* Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
* Good knowledge of IT systems and software.
Preferred:
* Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status.
* Experience with reverse engineering to source components from limited information and drawings.
