Highly Specialist Physiotherapist - Palliative care

We are seeking to appoint an experienced senior specialist palliative care Physiotherapist to work within the Community Specialist Palliative Care service within Cheshire Wirral partnership. The palliative care service consists of specialist Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant and Clinical Nurse specialists. The service is based across the neighbourhood care group and sits within the Community care teams. This post holder will be based at Custom House with Ellesmere Port West CCT.

Experience of working in the community is desirable as the role is predominantly based supporting patients in their own homes but also involves providing input within the Hospice of the Good Shepherd inpatient and outpatient units.

We are looking for an experienced and well‑motivated Palliative care Physiotherapist with excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills. The successful candidate will receive a full supportive induction when they join the team and will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists and the wider MDT.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward‑thinking team that prides itself in delivering high quality care, in the right place, every time. If you have the desire to make a difference to the people of Cheshire West, then the Palliative Care Team is the place to be.

This post is part time – 28 hours per week.

Shortlisting for this vacancy is due to commence on 19/01/2026 and the proposed interview date is 02/02/2026.

The post holder will lead the provision of specialist palliative therapy and end of life rehabilitation to the people of West Cheshire with malignant or non‑malignant conditions who have a limited life expectancy, working autonomously and as part of a team. They will deliver therapeutic interventions in the patient’s own home and/or when they attend the Hospice as an in‑patient or attend the Living Well Centre. The post holder will provide advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals. They will also promote advanced care planning, management of complex end‑of‑life symptoms and patient and carer expectations whilst meeting the integrated care needs of the patient.

Over recent years there has been a lot of development within the service and the successful candidate will need to share the team’s drive to take the service forward. You also need to be passionate about delivering quality care to people receiving palliative or end‑of‑life care.

We would like to hear from HCPC registered physiotherapists with relevant post‑graduation experience who have a genuine desire to make a difference and relish the opportunity to care for people in their preferred place of care. If you are able to lead and support a team of therapists who strive to deliver high quality care, then please get in touch.

As the role involves the assessment and treatment of patients within their own home access to transport for work purposes is essential.
