Reed Talent Solutions are recruiting exclusively for a large housing organisation for a Director of Asset Strategy on a permanent basis.
This is a high-impact role where you will work closely with executive and board-level stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on portfolio strategy, financial performance, and asset optimisation.
You would be leading the development and delivery of a long-term asset strategy across a complex and diverse property portfolio.
Ideally you would have a background within housing association however the hiring manager is open to sectors beyond this provided your experience is suitable. They are also in process of replacing their asset database so any experience with technology change projects would be highly desirable.
The role role will be offered mostly remote with an expectation to attend weekly meetings in central London with the executive team.
The salary for this role will range between £150,000 - £190,000 + and includes £8000 car allowance, an annual bonus and a strong executive benefits package, depending on experience.
Role Aim
You will be responsible for defining and delivering a data-led asset strategy, ensuring the organisation’s portfolio is optimised to deliver long-term financial resilience, regulatory compliance and sustainability objectives.
You’ll be part of a senior leadership team, with the opportunity to shape strategic investment decisions, influence organisational direction, and drive how a large-scale portfolio is managed, regenerated and rationalised to maximise value.
Job Requirements
You will need to be an experienced and commercially astute property or asset strategy leader, capable of operating at executive level within a complex organisation. You will combine strategic thinking with strong financial acumen, ensuring asset decisions are aligned to long-term business objectives.
You will lead the development of a clear, evidence-based asset strategy, using data, analytics and modelling to drive decision-making around investment, regeneration and disposals across the portfolio.
You will build strong relationships across finance, development, sustainability and operational teams, ensuring a joined-up approach to portfolio management and strategic planning.
You will take ownership of long-term asset planning, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s business plan and financial strategy, including contributing to 30-year financial modelling and investment decisions.
You will oversee asset data, systems and digital capability, ensuring the organisation has the insights and tools required to support predictive modelling, scenario planning and robust governance.
Essential Skills (Professional and Technical)
* Significant experience in asset strategy, portfolio management, or property investment
* Experience operating within large, complex or regulated property environments (housing or public sector desirable)
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with NPV/IRR modelling and long-term financial planning
* Proven experience delivering portfolio optimisation, investment strategies and disposals programmes
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging executive and board-level audiences
* Experience using data, analytics and modelling to inform strategic decision-making
* Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration across finance, development, and operational teams
* Experience building and leading high-performing teams
* Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex insight into clear, strategic recommendations
