Role Overview

A hands-on technical leadership role responsible for leading the Modern Workplace Specialist team and overseeing the design, implementation, optimisation and support of Modern Workplace technologies across the organisation.

You will act as the subject matter expert and primary escalation point, driving digital transformation, secure collaboration, cloud adoption, and employee engagement through Microsoft 365 and associated platforms.

Working closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders, you will ensure solutions align with strategic objectives while delivering operational excellence, continuous improvement, and an outstanding user experience.


Key Responsibilities

* Team Leadership: Lead, coach and develop the Modern Workplace team; set objectives, manage performance, and foster innovation.
* Service & Technical Oversight: Oversee Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and related technologies, ensuring best practice service delivery.
* Projects & Change: Lead deployments, upgrades and migrations, managing change and stakeholder communication.
* Escalation & Troubleshooting: Act as senior escalation point for complex issues; liaise with vendors where required.
* Security & Compliance: Ensure robust security across Microsoft 365 and Azure, maintaining regulatory compliance (care sector).
* Device & Endpoint Management: Oversee Intune, Autopilot, Samsung Knox, Apple Business Manager, device lifecycle and policy compliance.
* Collaboration & Productivity: Drive adoption and innovation across Teams, SharePoint and collaboration platforms.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Translate business needs into technical solutions; communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
* Documentation & Training: Maintain documentation and oversee delivery of user and IT training.
* Performance & Resource Management: Manage KPIs, SLAs, reporting and resource allocation.
* Undertake additional duties as required.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

* Degree in IT/Computer Science (desirable).
* Microsoft 365 certifications (Modern Desktop, Teams, Security or equivalent) highly desirable.
* Proven experience leading technical teams in a Microsoft 365 / cloud-focused environment.
* Strong project and change management capability.
* Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong knowledge of cloud security and compliance frameworks (care sector).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong customer focus and commitment to continuous professional development.
