Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team Manager

The closing date is 10 November 2025

This is a fantastic opportunity to take up an exciting and innovative post to support the needs of the local population living with a wide range of mental health difficulties. The role holder will provide operational management to Rotherham care group's Older People's Community Mental Health team. The OP CMHT Team manager will work in a collaborative and multi‑agency way and develop multiagency and multidisciplinary operational frameworks and structures.

This role provides expert operational and clinical leadership and knowledge within the teams, for staff, patients and carers. The role will work with a variety of roles including Nurse Consultants, OTs, Healthcare support workers, medics and other external and internal stakeholders.


Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the operational management of the Older People's Community Mental Health team and to support Transformation and service development.

Provide strong leadership for all staff within the Older People's services by

* Promoting and maintaining a quality environment
* Ensuring agreed standards of care are achieved
* Improve patient experience, andachieve all performance targets relating to the teams
* Effective communication, risk management and considered risk taking.

To provide expert clinical and management advice and guidance for staff and external stakeholders.

To focus care on Quality and Clinical Assurance as outlined in the key roles and responsibilities for clinical services.

To be responsible for coordinating staff training to achieve quality and evidence based interventions based upon a skills/training analysis. To arrange and coordinate training for staff on various relevant clinical skills.

To undertake investigations in line with the relevant organisational policy (e.g. complaints, Incidents, Serious Incidents, Structured Judgement Reviews, HR investigations).

Person Specification


Knowledge

* Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
* Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required
* Experience of providing supervision to staff.
* Experience of developing Care Pathways.
* Experience in managing Complex Cases and Risk.
* Knowledge and understanding of Recovery and Wellbeing model and its application.
* Experience of working in numerous mental health settings across a variety of patient needs and complexity
* Knowledge of essential physical health care for people experiencing severe mental illness. assessment & management.
* Professional Code(s) of Conduct & requirements.


Experience

* Capability to lead & manage improvements in patient care across care pathways
* Confidence to discuss patient management / express difference of clinical opinion with other members of the multiprofessional team.
* Willingness to sensitively challenge & effectively address ineffective/weak/poor practice/systems where it/they occur.
* Being a strong role model & leader, inspiring others to deliver safe, effective and personal care every time.
* Applying patient centred & recovery focussed approaches to the assessment & treatment of individual patients / service users, progressing over time to work across whole care pathways with increasing autonomy and a capacity for complex clinical decision making.
* Experience of engaging in service/quality improvement/evaluation work, research and or clinical audit.


Qualifications

* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker
* Up to date with all required Statutory & Mandatory Training.
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
* A recognised qualification in Clinical Supervision.
* Evidence of ability / capability to study at Post Graduate Master's Degree level
