We have a new permanent opportunity for a full-time Senior Associate to join the Contested Probate Team within our Litigation Department which is led by a Legal 500 leading individual. We are looking for a talented and ambitious solicitor with a strong grounding in contentious trusts and probate work who’s ready to step up and take on more responsibility, or for a seasoned practitioner looking for a new challenge within a supportive and ambitious team. Ideally the role will be based out of our Newbury office but other locations in the Thames Valley are available. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years PQE contested probate experience managing a varied and complex caseload. The Role Manage a varied case load of contested probate matters, including will challenges, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and disputes over estate administration Provide clear, strategic advice to clients with sensitivity and confidence – these cases are often emotionally charged and complex Handle matters from start to finish, including issuing proceedings, mediation, and trial preparation where necessary Work collaboratively with colleagues across our Private Client and Dispute Resolution teams to ensure an efficient and effective client service Contribute to the growth of the contested probate law practice through business development initiatives, thought leadership, and networking to build your profile and that of the team Build and maintain strong client relationships by offering personalised legal services, understanding their needs and providing clear communication throughout the legal process Work collaboratively with other members of the Firm to ensure an efficient and effective client service Support the development and supervision of junior members of the team About you 5-8 years’ PQE in contested probate Strong technical knowledge of contested probate and trust disputes. ACTAPS or STEP membership (or working towards it) is a requirement Hearing and trial experience (high court) is required Proven business development skills – able to generate own pipeline Supervision experience would be an advantage A pro-active approach to case management with a strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities Excellent team player with demonstrable ability to build effective and trusting relationships with clients and colleagues Strong academic record; LLB 2:1 and above We offer Salary: Competitive Office: Newbury Hours of work: 9.00am - 5.30pm Other Benefits: Flexible Leave (Holiday) Policy, pension, life assurance, private medical insurance, medical health cash plan & discount portal with Virtual GP & wellbeing tools & advice.
