Outreach Tutor – Newham Location: Newham, London Contract: Part-time hours / Full-time hours - Monday-Friday Pay: Competitive hourly rate (PAYE) Job Overview New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a dedicated Outreach Tutor to support children and young people across Newham who are unable to access mainstream education. You will work 1:1 with learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and those at risk of exclusion, delivering personalised tuition in community-based settings. This is a rewarding, flexible role suited to experienced tutors, teachers, or education professionals with a trauma-informed and learner-centred approach. Key Responsibilities * Deliver 1:1 outreach tuition to learners with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, and complex needs * Provide tuition in homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provision settings across Newham * Plan and adapt sessions to meet individual academic, emotional, and behavioural needs * Re-engage disengaged learners using creative and flexible teaching strategies * Build positive, professional relationships with learners and families * Track progress and provide clear feedback to schools, parents/carers, and professionals Essential Requirements * Experience working with vulnerable, disengaged, or excluded learners * Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, and/or anxiety * Knowledge of the UK curriculum (primary or secondary) * Calm, patient, and empathetic approach * Strong communication and relationship-building skills * Ability to work independently in community-based or alternative settings Desirable * Teaching qualification or tutoring experience * Experience in outreach tuition, alternative provision, or SEND settings * Local knowledge of Newham What We Offer * Competitive hourly rates * PAYE employment * Flexible working to fit around your availability * Free CPD and ongoing professional development * Access to sector-wide education webinars * Additional income opportunities * Ongoing support from a specialist tuition team * Opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives Safeguarding All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references (including your most recent employer), and confirmation of right to work in the UK.
