Job Title: Complex Needs Assistant – SEN School
Location: Kirkby, Merseyside
Salary: £85–£100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time or Part-Time, Term-Time Only
About the Role: A specialist SEN school in Kirkby is seeking a compassionate and adaptable Complex Needs Assistant to join their dedicated team. This role offers the opportunity to support pupils across primary or secondary age groups, depending on your experience and preference.
You’ll be working closely with children who present with a range of complex needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, and medical or physical challenges. Whether supporting in the classroom or providing 1:1 care, your role will be vital in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and feel safe.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to pupils with complex learning and developmental needs
2. Assist with personal care, sensory regulation, and communication strategies
3. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver holistic support
4. Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes independence
5. Use specialist resources and approaches (e.g. PECS, Makaton, sensory tools)
What We’re Looking For:
6. Experience working with children or young people with complex needs
7. Knowledge of SEN strategies and a flexible, child-centred approach
8. Patience, empathy, and a strong sense of commitment
9. Willingness to support personal care and physical needs where required
10. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
