Do you enjoy helping people grow in confidence while making a real difference to children’s lives?
Warning Zone delivers interactive safety education to primary school aged children across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We are looking for someone who can train, guide and support volunteers of all ages to deliver engaging sessions safely and confidently to young people.
This is a child focused role. Alongside training adults, you will regularly work directly with children and must be comfortable managing groups of primary aged pupils in active learning environments including schools and other youth settings.
About the role
* Prepare volunteers to deliver sessions safely and consistently by providing training in safeguarding, health and safety and programme delivery.
* Mentor volunteers in practice, monitor quality of delivery and step in to support when needed.
* Deliver sessions directly to children in a range of settings and support teachers or group leaders to reinforce learning after sessions take place.
* Adapting approach to different ages, abilities and confidence levels of volunteers ranging from young people to retired professionals.
* Support volunteer recruitment through attending talks, events and community fairs.
* Act as deputy safeguarding lead for the day when needed.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver and coordinate volunteer training covering safeguarding, health and safety and session delivery.
* Support volunteers of all ages to feel confident working with children.
* Monitor quality of delivery and update training when required.
* Deliver sessions directly to primary aged children.
* Deliver pre- and post-visit sessions when required.
* Train teachers and group leaders to deliver follow up activities.
About you
* People focused and child centred.
* Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults and understand the importance of safeguarding and appropriate boundaries.
* Confident training and supporting adults with different experience levels.
* Comfortable managing groups of children.
* Calm, observant and able to step in superlatively when needed.
* Able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
* Happy representing the charity at events and speaking to the public.
* Passionate about improving young people’s safety awareness.
Experience in education, youth work, coaching, care, emergency services, community work or similar roles would be highly suitable.
