About the Role
Platform Recruitment is partnering with a leading company specialising in the design, manufacture, and distribution of scientific electro‑mechanical instruments. As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in product development, precision mechanism design, and 3D CAD. This is an exciting opportunity to lead product development from concept to launch, working on cutting‑edge electro‑mechanical technologies in a fast‑paced, innovative environment, with a clear and direct progression route to a Principal Mechanical role.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop conceptual designs for next‑generation products
* Apply blue sky thinking to drive innovation
* 3D CAD Design
* Prototype and test designs for performance validation
* Design precision mechanisms for electro‑mechanical systems
* Oversee product development from concept to manufacturing
* Mentor and support junior engineers
Key Requirements
* Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Product Design, or related field) or equivalent experience
* Strong expertise in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
* Creativity and a passion for innovation & blue sky thinking
* Proven experience in precision mechanism design
* Knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including injection moulding
* Hands‑on experience with prototyping and testing
* Experience in electro‑mechanical product design (highly desirable)
