Geoquip Marine is a market leading Marine Geotechnical Investigation company pivotal to the global roll out of offshore renewable energy and achievement of net zero. Already having achieved considerable expansion recently, you will join an expanding team of energetic and aspiring engineers in a rapidly growing and globally important market. You will be an integral part of Geoquip’s ability to service our many clients’ technical needs and become actively involved in progressing the Engineering Department’s capabilities. In this position you will report to the Project Engineer overseeing the planning and management of the geotechnical aspects of offshore wind farm site investigations. The role will be split between offshore site supervision work on one of our many vessels spread across the globe, and desk-based reporting work in our fantastic office situated in the heart of Central Bristol, UK. Offshore you will be responsible for the collection, interrogation and quality assurance of the soils data and testing results collected at the locations explored by our drilling and seabed rigs. Onshore you will form part of a team specifying, scheduling, procuring, monitoring and interpreting complex laboratory testing campaigns combined with detailed interpretation and resulting parameterisation of in-situ testing data, ultimately leading to the delivery of final reporting to satisfy our many offshore renewables clients. Progression within Geoquip Geotechnical Engineering Department is available for the right candidates either within a technical role or developing into more Project Management role when sufficient experience is gained. Functions and duties The duties assigned to the Geotechnical Engineer are varied, but will include: Offshore logging and laboratory testing Quality control and processing of in situ testing Production of borehole logs Specification of laboratory testing schedules Quality assurance of laboratory tests Parameter derivation from laboratory test and in situ data Generation of design soil profiles Creation of premobilisation reports and post-fieldworks reports Participate in any health and safety talks, meetings or training Responsible for the quality of service to internal and external clients including interested parties Any other duties deemed necessary, which are within the bounds of the incumbent’s competence and function The person A Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. Experience as a Geotechnical Engineer Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a team environment.
