About the Role Energia Group recognises the central role that Data and Digitalisation will play in achieving its exciting business strategy and there is sponsorship of the new Data Strategy from the highest levels. Your role as a Data Engineer will sit within Energia Group's Technology & Innovation function as it builds material capability and community in the Data domain. You will directly support our business units as they crave greater data and insight to drive the performance of the Group. You will be responsible for expanding and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. You'll focus on the practical applications of data collection and analysis, providing the mechanism for collecting and validating the information that our data scientists and data analysts use to answer questions. Working to develop and support Energia's Customer Data Platform. The Customer Data Platform is an Azure cloud native technology solution utilising Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse and SQL Managed Instance. Responsibilities Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like: Responsibility for providing root cause analysis to Application System issues and management of third level support Hands on experience of developing solutions to engineering challenges through Microsoft Azure platform using Data Factory, Synapse or SQL MI, Databricks. Able to provide support and change assistance across a variety of platforms, including infrastructure and code. Ability to define complex functional and non-functional data models / solutions for any functional area. Working closely with stakeholders to understand the various source systems including details of their interfaces, data models and capabilities. Defining and building effective monitoring for data platform health. Optimize data models for performance and scalability. Engaging with our data community to support adoption of good engineering and data governance practices. Conducting peer review of data solutions, test cases and evidence. About you Key Criteria What You'll Need Solid experience in design, development, and implementation of data models / solutions to meet business needs. Strong SQL Knowledge (SQL Server, MY SQL, Oracle, T-SQL) Experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), stored procedures as well as working experience with a variety of databases in an IT working environment Significant development experience within the following areas Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse and SQL MI. Technical ability with use of Python, PySpark and PowerShell Desirable Criteria Experience of supporting systems for the Energy and Utility sectors. Knowledge of agile delivery practices. Azure Data certification. Experience in Automated Developer/Unit Testing Working knowledge of Visual Studio (2017 and beyond).
