About the Role
Opus People Solutions, in partnership with Northamptonshire Children's Trust, are seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the Post Approval Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support, supervise, and empower foster carers while contributing to the ongoing development of fostering services across the county.
The Post Approval Team provides high‑quality supervision and support to approved foster carers and oversees the duty system in collaboration with the Placements Team to ensure children are placed safely and appropriately.
Hourly Rate: £35 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Length: 9 Months
Working Arrangements: Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 days from home - to be agreed)
Location: One Angel Square / Countywide
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and support an allocated caseload of foster carers.
Undertake assessments to understand the needs of children and their families.
Carry out direct work with children and families, offering guidance, support, and intervention.
Visit foster carers and children as required to ensure placement stability and safety.
Complete Form F assessments using the new 2025 Coram BAAF assessment form.
Review and evaluate your work to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to service development.
Assist with delivering Skills to Foster training sessions.
Support recruitment events for prospective foster carers when needed.
Engage in collaborative practice with the Placements Team and wider partners.
About You
A recognised Social Work qualification and a minimum of 3 years post‑qualified experience.
Experience working within fostering, safeguarding, or children's services.
Strong assessment, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
The ability to work flexibly across office and home settings.
A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
