Overview
NHS England is recruiting a Wider Workforce Lead for the South East Endoscopy Training Academy (SEETA) on secondment for a fixed term until 31 March 2026 in the first instance. The role is for two days a week and is home based with remote working and some attendance at local NHSE offices and regional hospitals. The post sits within the NHSE SE Cancer & Diagnostics Programme and leads the ongoing development of the South East Endoscopy Training Academy.
The purpose of the role is to lead on the development and training of the wider endoscopy workforce in the South East, providing regional leadership for the delivery of high-quality, cross-specialty, multi-professional endoscopy training, together with the SEETA core team. The wider workforce includes administrators, bookers, pathway navigators and assistant screening practitioners.
The successful candidate should have: a strong understanding of and involvement in endoscopy education and training; current NMC or HCPC registration; senior clinical experience in endoscopy in the UK; a transformation leadership style; and experience in strategic thinking, problem solving and calculated risk management.
Main duties
This role will be integral to the academy's development and will provide insight and leadership within endoscopy wider workforce training. Key outputs, supported by the Academy's Clinical Lead, Senior Project Manager, Project Officer and the NHSE SE Cancer & Diagnostics Programme team, include:
* Undertake workforce planning to identify the region's training needs and challenges in appointing and retaining staff.
* Identify system-level training leads for the endoscopy wider workforce and support recruitment, training and retention of staff.
* Coordinate training programmes within the South East, including organising and managing large multi-professional working group meetings.
* Further develop and embed career pathways in endoscopy for the wider workforce.
* Work to implement and embed standard administrative training pathways as they develop.
* Develop and deliver upskilling and developmental opportunities for Endoscopy staff to extend their scope of practice, mapped to career pathways.
* Work with partners to develop and deliver professional development for the wider endoscopy workforce to improve recruitment and retention in the SE region.
* Develop excellent working relationships with NHSE colleagues, NHS Trusts, Endoscopy Networks, Higher Education Institutes and other education leads.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time in-person.

Job responsibilities
* Communicate, provide and present information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including regional endoscopy units and external agencies, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders with complex requirements.
* Lead on workforce matters as the SME with external stakeholders, guiding workforce transformation for the wider endoscopy workforce, ensuring alignment with ICS plans and NHS England delivery plans and related policy.
* Design and implement this programme to support workforce transformation priorities, including planning, developing and evaluating methods to measure performance and outputs, with governance and risk management.
* Deliver short-, medium- and long-term business plans for local teams to achieve quality strategic outcomes, including appropriate governance.
* Make sound decisions in uncertain environments using analysis and judgement where data may conflict.
* Think strategically with an innovative approach to solving multi-professional education challenges.
