Job overview

We are seeking to further develop our intensive home-based eating disorder treatment pathway in the form of an enhanced care pathway (Intensive Care Pathway - ICP). As part of this sevice development we are excited to add a Senior Lead Dietitian to the MDT to offer expert guidance and advanced dietetic assessment and intervention.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior lead Dietician to join our dedicated NELFT London All Age Community Eating Disorder service based within North East London NHS Foundation Trust. The service provides the latest in evidence based NICE concordant psychological interventions to children, young people and their families and adults with an Eating Disorder. The team’s multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment and treatment of individuals with an eating disorder is a real strength.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate who will work to support the team and the dietetic element of the service to deliver the best possible treatment to children and young people and their families and carers. We are seeking an individual with significant NHS experience and the knowledge and skills to work as part of a multi-professional team and be innovative in their approach to supporting this client group.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) (pro rata for part time staff).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be encouraged to take on a leadership role supported by the Senior Management Team, Service Manager and Clinical Lead. The post holder will join a well-established eating disorder service. The post holder will be required to assess and manage service users who present with an eating disorder. The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and have support of other team members in the management of these cases. As the service is exclusively an outpatient service, the post holder will not hold an inpatient service user case load, but the post holder will offer liaison role with our specialist in patient units (SEDUs) or local Acute Trusts in order to maintain joint working and smooth transition into and out of in patient service user beds. The post holder would be expected to provide dietetic supervision and leadership of dieticians within the eating disorders team. The post holder would be expected to use their clinical expertise to recommend on dietetic transformation plans to develop the dietetic offer to children, young people and adults within the geographical offer; this includes the clinical expertise development to support of new and proposed pathways within the service’s transformation plan E.gARFIDs. The post holder will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings as well as CPA meetings of cases on their case load.

North East London NHS Foundation Trust All-Age Eating Disorders Service is based in Barking. We have a strong focus on training and research and team members benefit from excellent training and CPD opportunities. We have well developed links with NHSE and access to up-to-date training within transformation therapies and Leadership.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Registered or eligible to register with Health & Care Profession Council (HCPC) Evidence of successful completion of short courses up to master’s level or equivalent Successful completion of leadership courses or evidence of management skills Member of relevant special interest group
2. Degree / Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics
3. Non-Medical Prescribing Course

5. transformational change to plan and develop the service as well as supporting staff in their clinical areas and career development.
6. Understanding of Dietetic processes, requirements, models, and evidence-based practice in eating disorders and ARFID
7. Knowledge and experience of using clinical observation/standardised assessments/outcome measures/ setting of goals relevant to the client group

Experience

8. Significant post graduate experience with experience of management or supervisory experience
9. Experience of overseeing supervision of dietitians, undergraduate students, and Dietetic Assistance
10. Experience of developing and implementing care pathways and protocols, policies, and procedures

Skills

Essential criteria

11. Demonstrate highly developed Interpersonal and communication skills
12. Evidence of advanced skills/extended role, non-medical prescribing, placement of feeding tubes, interpretations of bloods results and follow up actions or willing to work towards
