Summary:
Reporting to Materials Director, this role will lead, motivate, and manage a dedicated (UK-based) freight team responsible for end-to-end logistics operations, ensuring high service levels, and efficient financial reporting for local UK warehouse and global Flex sites.
What a typical day looks like:
1. Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage the freight team to achieve individual and site-level objectives.
2. Operational Control: Oversee inbound, outbound, cross-border, and reverse logistics movements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
3. Supplier Management: Monitor and manage external suppliers' performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
4. Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Ensure strict adherence to SLAs for multiple customers.
5. Financial Control: Capture, allocate, and report all financial billing associated with freight providers.
6. Customer Facing/Support: Serve as the point of contact for enquiries from internal/external sources, business development projects, RFQs, and new business opportunities.
7. Customer/Site Support: Support site programme managers in all freight dealings with the present customer base.
8. Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships and work experience with major UK Freight providers.
The experience/qualification we’re looking to add to our team:
9. Proven experience in freight forwarding, logistics
10. Demonstrated experience in leading or supervising a team
11. Strong ability to lead on customer-facing calls, including reporting and escalation issues
12. Experience of import and export regulations and procedures for EU and Non-EU origins and destinations, covering Incoterms and duties.
13. Experience of SOP and SOW creation. Knowledge of Customs Tariff code
14. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and externally to customers and logistics partners
15. To be able to build and maintain working relationships with: Freight partners, Finance, Purchasing, Programme and Customer management & IT.
