Job Title: Maths Lecturer (GCSE & Functional Skills)
Location: Birmingham | Contract Type: Long-Term Temporary | Pay Rate: £25–£30 per hour
About the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Maths Lecturer to join a Further Education (FE) college in Birmingham on a long-term temporary basis. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Maths, helping learners achieve strong outcomes and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and effective lessons in GCSE and Functional Skills Maths
* Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with awarding body requirements
* Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback
* Prepare students for exams and assessments
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality processes
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Essential Requirements
* Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
* Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
* Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills Maths in FE
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable
* Recent FE teaching experience
* Experience working with post-16 learners
* Ability to deliver engaging sessions to mixed-ability groups
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
