Specialist Medicine are looking for a driven individual to undertake a six month acting up opportunity to the role of Associate General Manager (8B) for the Royal London Hospital.

The post holder will play a crucial role in delivering the following as well as typical AGM day to day responsibilities:

1. Ensuring the Trust meets the ambition of clearing 65+ week waits, including strategic planning to ensuring waiting lists are cleared sustainably.
2. Long waiter reduction and sustainable waiting list management, requiring significant outpatient process transformation (including roll out of Deloitte recommendations), substantial clinical and non-clinical engagement to ensure the new models of care introduced are successful.
3. Ensure capacity and demand remains under constant review, and that our waiting list reduction plans remain achievable.

We are looking for someone working within Specialist Medicine with the following skills:

·Significant experience of PTL and RTT management, including supporting service turnaround in line with set trajectories.

·Experience of working collaboratively across the staff disciplines to achieve shared goals.

·Experience of introducing and embedding new ways of working and models of care

·A positive attitude, who is solutions focussed and inspires collaboration amongst clinical and A&C colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The Associate General Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. Key aims are:

•To co-ordinate the operational delivery of services within the portfolio of responsibility to ensure the safe and effective use of all resources. Specifically, to take a lead in achieving key performance targets in line with local and national agreements.

·Provide direct operational leadership to the Dermatology and Rheumatology service group

•In partnership with the Clinical Directors, Service Group leads, and General Manager take operational management responsibility - with the specialty Lead Clinicians, Nurses, Operational Managers and Heads of Department within the SHaRD and Clin Path directorates as well as for the delivery of the Division’s financial and operational priorities.

•Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for the SHaRD and Clin Path directorates.

•Deputise for the General Manager, acting with delegated authority as granted to lead on tasks and in key meetings. Support the wider directorate under the direction of the General Manager.

•Support the Clinical Director, Lead Clinicians, Division Manager and General Manager to ensure that the services are responsive, innovative and provide the highest possible clinical and performance standards.

•Lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are met. Design and implement mitigation plans where services are off plan,

• Problem solve as appropriate, and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical colleagues

• To be a key member of the Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times

•Act as an ambassador for the Trust and as a Senior Manager of the Trust working in an ethnically and culturally diverse area, promote the Trust’s Equality and Diversity policy and goals.

Maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to QMUL, commissioners and colleagues across Barts Health. Play a key role in facilitating cross-site working.

•The post holder will manage a team based at the Royal London but with services across the Barts Health patch, some travel may be required within the role
