We are working with an established, family business based in Thirsk who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team at their head office. The role would be suited to someone looking for a step up in their finance career, or someone experienced and and established looking to hit the ground running.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Bank reconciliations
2. Foreign currency posting and reconciliations
3. Petty cash for all stores
4. Credit card statement reconciliation
5. Purchase ledger management
6. Supplier payments (cheque runs and bacs payments)
7. Dealing with queries on the purchase and sales ledgers
8. Posting sales receipts onto Sage
9. Checking store takings with bank receipts and reporting discrepancies
Skills and experience:
10. Must be a self-starter who can work off their own initiative
11. Ability to deal with and prioritise a busy workload
12. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finance role
13. Confident with IT and Excel
14. Ability to identify and implement improvements
15. Experience using Sage 50 Accounts Professional essential
16. Must be able to work methodically and be accurate
Working hours; Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm with one hour for lunch (35 hours)
