Main Purpose of Job
Manage the Technical Service team based in Northampton, ensuring vehicles are maintained in line with legislation and contractual commitments, optimising vehicle availability, minimising maintenance spend, and keeping the fleet system up to date for both the SFS and CTS fleets.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Responsible for management of all members of the technical service team, including day‑to‑day team management, reviewing targets and monitoring team performance, conducting employee reviews, identifying development requirements, coaching to enhance skills, and KPI team reporting.
* Responsible for management and scheduling of mobile engineers, including logistical management for business cover, reviewing targets, ongoing employee reviews and identifying development requirements.
* Fully responsible for overseeing maintenance in line with manufacturers’ recommendations, legislation and contractual obligations, including management of vehicle repairs and servicing, identifying rechargeable damage, ensuring warranty periods and policy claims, negotiating with third‑party repair agents, sourcing competitive parts and suppliers, and ensuring timely completion of paperwork.
* Negotiate, monitor, measure and recommend third‑party suppliers to support maintenance requirements, ensuring contractual requirements for customers are delivered.
* Monitor and manage allocated key suppliers against contractual terms, including measurement against SLAs.
* Support and lead in dealing with supplier invoice disputes and resolution to prevent delays in service.
* Liaise with customers to build and maintain relationships, ensuring the technical service team delivers contractual customer requirements.
* Ensure the fleet management system is used in accordance with company and legal requirements to enable accurate reporting and financial cost control.
* Accomplish other reasonable requests as required.

* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritise deadlines
* Full clean driving licence
Desirable Skills
* Recognised vehicle engineering qualification (e.g. City & Guilds)
* Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) National
* Management qualification
