Due to continued growth, we’re recruiting a Finance Assistant on behalf of a well-established, family-owned business operating across the North of England.
This is a varied role at the heart of the finance and administration function, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. It will suit someone who enjoys a hands-on workload, takes pride in accuracy, and is keen to support and improve finance systems and processes. Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered.
Finance & Administration
1. Performing bank, credit card, and supplier account reconciliations, ensuring accurate allocation of costs
2. Recording, filing, and reporting financial transactions in line with internal procedures
3. Maintaining customer and supplier accounts and supporting the sales ledger, including invoicing, credit control, and dispute resolution
4. Reviewing financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with company policies
5. Reconciling payroll, timesheets, and employee data for accurate departmental and management reporting
6. Assisting with budget preparation, asset registers, and reporting on work in progress
Asset, Fleet & Stock Management
7. Managing records for vehicles, equipment, and other assets, including coordinating servicing, repairs, and renewals
8. Supporting stock control processes and ensuring appropriate inventory levels
9. Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to maintain operational coverage
Continuous Improvement & Support
10. Identifying and implementing system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
11. Providing administrative support to HR, Health & Safety, or other internal teams as required
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
12. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar finance/accounts role within an SME
13. Ideally have AAT Level 3 (or equivalent), achieved or in progress
14. Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
15. Analytical, proactive problem-solver
16. Proficient in Excel
17. Experience using Xero or another accounting software
