Overview
At Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), technology underpins how millions of people move every day. We’re not just building digital products we’re raising the maturity, resilience, and security of how we design, build, and run them.
We’re now looking for a Software Engineer with an interest in security, quality, and platform maturity to join our team. This is a hybrid role that bridges hands‑on software engineering with modern engineering practices such as secure‑by‑design development, platform tooling, and continuous improvement.
This role would suit
* A software engineer who wants deeper exposure to security, quality, and engineering maturity, or
* Someone from a platform, infrastructure, or security background who wants to strengthen their software development experience.
Your Role
As a Software Engineer at TfGM, you’ll still be a builder at heart writing code, collaborating on solutions, and contributing to live services. However, a significant part of your impact will be enabling better outcomes across the wider engineering community, not just a single product.
You’ll work across:
* Product teams delivering and maintaining user‑facing digital services
* Our Platforms Team, helping improve how software is built, secured, and supported
This means influencing standards, improving tooling, and helping teams adopt better ways of working while staying grounded in real delivery.
